“Working together to make our group coherent and conquering”
Over the past decade, our journey has been one of perseverance, adaptation, and shared ambition. Together, we have tasted both the sting of setbacks and the quiet satisfaction of progress — each experience shaping a stronger, more united African Union of Broadcasting.
The visibility and credibility of our organisation have grown through consistent effort. Today, the AUB stands as a recognized voice in the African and global media ecosystem — not only telling Africa’s story but shaping how that story is told.
Our news and programme exchange network has expanded beyond expectations, connecting broadcasters across the continent and inspiring collaboration far beyond our borders. What began as an idea has become a living platform for shared content, training, and innovation.
We made history by managing CAF’s broadcasting rights from 2019 to 2023 — a milestone that strengthened both our institutional capacity and our confidence in Africa’s ability to own and distribute its media assets.
We have reformed our internal governance and welcomed private audiovisual operators into the Union, ensuring that AUB reflects the diversity and dynamism of Africa’s media landscape. Our collective voice has resonated in major continental debates — from the analog-to-digital transition to spectrum management and digital regulation.
The COVID-19 crisis reminded us that resilience must be built, not assumed. As Africa enters an era of artificial intelligence, data-driven storytelling, and digital sovereignty, our task is to ensure that African broadcasters remain not only relevant but leading.
We must strengthen our governance, modernise our infrastructure, and above all, invest in people — the journalists, producers, engineers, and visionaries who bring African stories to life. Building their skills is the surest way to build our future.
Our mission today is clear:
To position the AUB as an indispensable pillar of Africa’s creative and media industries — a Union that unites broadcasters, empowers creators, and champions the free flow of African voices across all platforms.
Much has been done. Much remains. But the spirit of unity and innovation that defines Africa is alive within our Union. Together, we will conquer new frontiers — from satellite to streaming, from traditional broadcasting to the boundless digital space.
Let us keep working together — coherently, confidently, and with the courage to conquer.
